United we address a pressing issue that threatens the stability and growth of our local businesses: the proposed rate hike by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA).

On July 15, TWIA’s Actuarial & Underwriting Committee recommended a 10 percent rate increase for both residential and commercial policies for 2025. This recommendation follows the 2024 Rate Adequacy Analysis, which indicates that TWIA rates are currently inadequate by 38 percent for residential coverage and 45 percent for commercial coverage. The TWIA Board of Directors will consider this recommendation during their meeting on August 6 in Galveston, TX.
