VP, Events

At the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, we’re proud to support the growth of young professionals through hands-on internship opportunities. Our interns bring fresh energy, big ideas, and a passion for learning that enriches our organization. Let’s introduce the talented students who are helping power our mission this season!

🌟 Maddy Duque

Maddy Duque is a proud Islander, currently majoring in Communication at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, with plans to graduate in May 2025. Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Maddy joined the Chamber through the Job Development Internship Program at TAMUCC and has quickly become an integral part of our events & communications team.

Her favorite part of the internship has been working together with the Chamber family during events. “Our events are where we really shine working as an ensemble,” she says. That collaborative spirit is one of the reasons Maddy fits right in.

Maddy is also on the Dean’s List at TAMU-CC, demonstrating her commitment to excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

Outside of work, Maddy has a goal of swimming with manatees in Crystal River, Florida—a dream that reflects her adventurous nature. A fun fact? She’s a big fan of horror movies, calling them her “comfort” genre! When it comes to local eats, she loves grabbing food at Doc’s or Snoopy’s Pier and enjoys drinks at Tapology. One of her favorite quotes is a line from The Shining by Stephen King: “Human Nature Baby, grab it and growl.”

🌟 Skylar Villa

Skylar Villa is currently pursuing her MBA with a concentration in Marketing at the University of North Texas, and she’s set to graduate in May 2025. Originally from Sinton, Texas, Skylar has brought a strategic, creative touch to every project she’s taken on during her internship.
Whether she’s developing content, organizing ceremonies, or taking care of administrative tasks, Skylar has found every experience to be meaningful and aligned with her professional goals. She says, “Each experience has contributed to the knowledge and skills I set out to gain while working at the Chamber.”
On a personal note, Skylar has skydiving on her bucket list and has a sweet tooth—she prefers desserts over savory dishes. Her go-to spot for a delicious local bite is Mesquite Street Pizza and Pasta Co.

🌟 Tre’Von Guillory

Tre’Von Guillory is a Marketing major at Texas A&M University–Kingsville, working toward graduation in Spring 2026. Originally from Missouri City, Texas, he joined the Chamber through the AmeriCorps Vista Program and quickly found his niche in volunteering at events.

He says his favorite part of the internship has been jumping into hands-on opportunities at Chamber gatherings and working alongside staff and community members. With a vibrant mix of athletic and artistic talent, Tre’Von brings creativity and drive to everything he does.

On his bucket list? Visiting every U.S. national park—or maybe even skydiving. He’s a big fan of Surfing Crab when it comes to local eats. His personal motto is one that drives him forward: “Grind, Hit, Never Quit!”

🌟  Evie Karabanoff

Evie Karabanoff is another outstanding intern from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, where she’s on track to graduate in December 2025. A Corpus Christi native, Evie is part of the TAMUCC Job Development Internship Program and has become especially passionate about her work on Lemonade Day.
From assisting at registration events to creating social media content, Evie says Lemonade Day is the project she enjoys most. “I always look forward to coming into the office and being part of something that inspires young entrepreneurs,” she says.
In addition to her internship work, Evie is on the Dean’s List at TAMU-CC, reflecting her strong academic achievements.
Travel is something close to her heart, and one of her top bucket list items is visiting the Greek island of Syros with her mom—a place known as a sanctuary for over 3,000 cats. Fun fact: Evie’s a chess champion! She won first place at the Texas Girls State Chess Tournament in elementary school and placed 13th in her division at the 2009 World Open in Las Vegas. Her favorite food spot is Jefe’s Street Tacos & More, and she enjoys drinks at The Gold Fish Downtown. She lives by the quote: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

These incredible interns have each left a unique mark on our organization. Whether it’s through event support, marketing projects, or youth outreach, their contributions help move the Chamber—and our community—forward. We’re proud of their accomplishments and can’t wait to see where their paths lead next.

If you see any of them at an upcoming Chamber event, be sure to say hello!
