Infrastructure: Connecting Commerce and Communities

Infrastructure has always been close to my heart, because it’s about more than roads and bridges, it’s about connecting people and opportunities. In Washington, I wanted lawmakers to see that clearly.

I advocated for a Multi-State Future Interstate Highway Funding Program, knowing that the Coastal Bend must stay ahead of growth in freight and population. I stressed the need to secure $35 million in dredging funds for the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, protecting the nation’s largest energy export gateway.

And with hurricane season always on our minds, I made the case for an RTA grant to expand warehouse capacity, strengthening our ability to prepare and respond when storms come. I also urged support for maritime opportunities such as shipbuilding investments and the creation of maritime opportunity zones, which can further enhance our region’s economic competitiveness and national security.

For me, infrastructure is personal. It’s the foundation that keeps our communities safe, our businesses competitive, and our economy moving. That’s the message I delivered in DC.
