is to preserve, protect, communicate
and expand the value of the
Coastal Bend Region of Texas.
Why is the South Texas Military Task Force Needed
South Texas Military Installations are vital to National Security and the economic health of the Coastal Bend.
Military Operations are a $132B/Year industry in Texas.
If any of our bases were slated for closure, the job loss and economic impact would be devastating to our local economy.
Our area military operations contribute over $5.3B to our economy, provides over 10,000 direct jobs, and adding indirect impact, creates over 30,000 jobs in our area.
South Texas Military Task Force Overview
STMTF membership includes area leaders in business, education, industry, military, government, and elected officials. Members take pride in being a non-partisan, diverse group focused solely on supporting and promoting area military installations. The STMTF is considered to be one of the most influential groups of leaders in Texas. Working relationships formed and fostered in this group regularly benefit our military community as well as our region as a whole.

The South Texas Military Task Force or STMTF was founded in the 1990’s initially to prevent base closures and the devastating negative impact they would have on our community. Today, the STMTF continues its mission to promote, preserve and protect area military installations by increasing awareness of the military and economic value these facilities have in our community.

Annual Trip to Washington D.C.
Every year, the South Texas Military Task Force takes a trip to Washington D.C. to engage with key leaders and advocate for the needs of their military forces. Through strategic meetings and discussions, they champion the interests of their constituents, fostering a stronger relationship between the military community and policymakers. This annual trip serves as a pivotal platform for ensuring the voices of South Texas’s military personnel are heard and prioritized at the highest levels of government.

NASCC Winging Ceremonies
The South Texas Military Task Forces allocated funding for the prestigious gold wings bestowed upon pilots during their winging ceremony, symbolizing the culmination of rigorous training and commitment to excellence. These wings, gleaming in gold, not only signify a pilot’s proficiency but also serve as a testament to the region’s investment in producing top-tier aviators. The initiative reflects the community’s unwavering support for its armed forces and dedication to fostering a culture of honor and achievement.

Quarters One Project
The South Texas Military Task Force successfully secured funding and approval for the Quarters One Project, aimed at rebuilding the Admiral’s residence on the base, which was severely damaged by Hurricane Harvey. Through collaborative efforts and strategic planning, the task force navigated bureaucratic hurdles and garnered necessary resources to restore this vital infrastructure, ensuring continued operational readiness and morale within the military community. The approval marks a significant milestone in the region’s resilience and commitment to supporting its military personnel amidst natural disasters.

Annual Military Appreciation Dove Hunt
Each year, the South Texas Military Task Force hosts an unforgettable event: their annual military appreciation dove hunt. This event, free to military members, brings together service personnel from all branches to enjoy camaraderie and the thrill of the hunt amidst the beautiful South Texas landscape. It’s a cherished tradition, honoring those who serve while fostering bonds and memories to last a lifetime
