This week, the Metro 8 Chambers of Commerce convened to address critical matters concerning the upcoming session of the Texas Legislature in 2025. Our President and CEO Al Arreola Jr. and Vice President of Government Affairs Ginny Cross traveled to Houston to join CEOs from the largest Chambers of Commerce in Texas representing Arlington, Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio.

The Metro 8 Chambers represent the business sectors of the eight largest metropolitan cities in Texas, contributing significantly to the state’s economy. With over 20,000 Texas companies under their umbrella, they account for nearly 1.4 trillion in GDP, representing 77.6% of the state’s total GDP, and cater to over 21.2 million residents, constituting 71.8% of Texas’ local population.
Sustaining a robust business environment conducive to long-term growth and economic prosperity is imperative for Texas. The Metro 8 Chambers advocate for pro-growth policies that enhance the state’s competitiveness and uphold its status as a leading global economy, focusing on areas like infrastructure, water, and workforce development. As the 89th Legislative Session approaches, the Metro 8 Chambers aim to ensure that Texas remains a beacon of prosperity and opportunity for generations to come.
While each chamber operates autonomously and serves distinct constituencies, they share a common commitment to advancing policies that drive economic growth and job creation. The primary objective of the meeting was to outline the 2025 Metro 8 Texas Legislative agenda, although discussions also encompassed other local and federal issues impacting the Texas business landscape.
In the spirit of cooperation and collaboration, the Metro 8 Chambers reaffirmed their commitment to working together and with policymakers to advance the interests of Texas businesses and communities. Through shared resources, advocacy efforts, and a shared vision for the future, they strive to build a stronger, more resilient economy that benefits all Texans.
