Government Nears Conclusion After a Tumultuous Session

The United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce welcomes the end of the federal government shutdown and the bipartisan efforts underway to restore stability for American families, small businesses, and service members across the nation.

Government shutdowns are harmful to our economy, our community, and our national security. Here in the Coastal Bend, we feel these impacts acutely, from delayed federal contracts and permitting processes to the strain placed on local small businesses and military families whose livelihoods depend on steady government operations.

The funding agreement is now on it’s way to the House for consideration and passage. Once passed essential federal services and programs can once again operate without interruption, ensuring continued support for our nation’s defense, infrastructure, and workforce.

The Chamber extends sincere gratitude to our Coastal Bend congressional delegation: Senator John Cornyn, Senator Ted Cruz, Congressman Michael Cloud, and Congressman Vicente Gonzalez, for their leadership and commitment to reaching a responsible resolution. Their support for ending the shutdown demonstrates a shared understanding of how critical government stability is to our regional and national economic well-being.

The United Corpus Christi Chamber remains steadfast in working alongside our elected officials to support policies that promote economic growth, strengthen national security, and protect the hardworking service members and families who call our region home.
