Big decisions are happening at the Capitol this week, and your voice can help shape Corpus Christi’s future. On Wednesday, April 23, two critical bills are up for public committee hearings—and they both carry major implications for our local economy, tourism, and job creation.

Whether you’re in Austin or have someone representing your business there, now is the time to speak up in support.

✅ SB 1250 – Strengthening the Corpus Christi Project Finance Zone

What It Does:
SB 1250 makes a targeted fix to the boundary of the Project Finance Zone (PFZ) around the American Bank Center.

Why It Matters:
This simple adjustment unlocks greater potential for hotel development, boosts tourism, and increases revenue by an estimated 56% over 30 years—all without raising taxes.

Why Tourism Matters:
Tourism is a cornerstone of our regional economy. Visitors spend money at our local hotels, restaurants, attractions, and shops, supporting thousands of jobs and small businesses. Every dollar invested in growing our tourism infrastructure multiplies into greater economic returns for our community.

Suggested Public Comment:

“This bill makes a simple, fair fix that will unlock millions in local revenue and create more opportunities for tourism, small businesses, and jobs. It levels the playing field and maximizes the return on state and local investments.”
