We’re excited to share some great news for the Coastal Bend: the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation has been reaccredited by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). Originally earning this distinction in 2021, CCREDC successfully completed the reaccreditation process after four years of impact-driven work, placing us among just 94 accredited economic development organizations worldwide. As IEDC President and CEO Nathan Ohle put it,

“The CCREDC displays the professionalism, commitment, and technical expertise that is deserving of this honor”—and we couldn’t be prouder.

This recognition truly belongs to our region. From the City of Corpus Christi and Nueces County to our Board of Directors, investors, utilities, Port leadership, workforce and education partners, and so many community champions, this accreditation reflects the power of collaboration. Economic development is a team sport, and this milestone highlights what’s possible when regional partners align around a shared vision for growth, opportunity, and long-term success.

So what does AEDO accreditation actually mean? In short, it’s a rigorous peer-review process that evaluates how we’re organized, funded, staffed, and how we deliver results—complete with documentation reviews and on-site visits. Maintaining the designation requires renewal every three years, keeping us sharp and accountable. For our community and for businesses looking at Corpus Christi, AEDO status is a clear signal: this region is serious about economic development, committed to excellence, and ready to compete.
